ISLAMABAD: Legendary leg-spinner bowler Abdul Qadir said on Wednesday that former Pakistan batsman Inzamam-ul-Haq should become the national team’s batting coach instead of the chief selector.
Abdul Qadir criticized Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) of inability in the selection of the new chief selector for Green-shirts.
PCB is unable to pick the right man for the right job
One can easily see a batting coach job would suit Inzamam better since he has been one of the greatest-ever Pakistani batsmen
Former chief selector spinner said that recently poor performance by the batsman in recent tournaments was the main reason for Pakistan’s failure.
We all know that batting was where Pakistani team lagged behind other teams in Asia Cup and World T20
I appeal to PCB Patron-in-Chief to kindly intervene and appoint a former cricketer who can run the board in a better way
The 60-year-old lamented that the issue was imperative for the future of Pakistan cricket.
If we are unable to solve this matter, then the future of our cricket is bleak at best
He added that many top cricketers in Pakistan can run PCB in a better way than it’s the current administrators.
In my view Majid Khan, Javed Miandad and Zaheer Abbas know cricket way better than the current administrators
Talking about the appointment of a coach for the national team, Qadir said there should be no head coach and captain should be handed the responsibility of the team.
The captain should also be a member of the selection committee, so the rest of the squad fears him and subsequently play with more responsibility
Abdul Qadir said that he is totally against the employment of foreign coaches who coach other countries instead of their own.
How a player who earned fame and name because of his country can coach another nation
We have a lot of talented coaches in Pakistan, so why to bother to look for them abroad
