Multan: Former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani on Friday said that authorities should launch investigations against Osama Bin Laden’s presence in Pakistan and not over visa issuance to Americans.

The former PM was referring the story which became the talk of town that former PPP’s government had given authority to the former Pakistan’s envoy to US Haqqani to issue viasas to United States nationals.

He said that the aim of discussing this matter is to move others’ attention from real issues. Gillani said that the letter talks about the authority of the ambassador and sated he did not need to refer the cases to Pakistan.

Gillani maintained that instructions were given to the envoy that he could launch visas after the reference from the State Department. He added, it was mandatory to mention the visit purpose in applications.

He asked to investigate visas issuing since 2002 to 2007 adding that former president General Retd Pervez Musharraf allowed United States forces to use Shamsi Airfield (an airbase 200 miles southwest of Quetta, Balochistan).

Former PM said that his government set the airbase free from United Nations.

Talking about Abbotabad operation, he said that the forces which took part in it did not arrive Pakistan on visas.
