Interior Ministry officer arrested for alleged involvement in corruption

Karachi: The Federal Investigation Agency has apprehended an Interior Ministry personnel Muhammad Sajid for his alleged involvement in Visa Extension corruption case.

The ministry personnel is accused of taking bribe to illegally extend visas for foreigners.

Earlier, on March 19, the investigation agency had nabbed two Karachi Passport Office personnel under the orders of the Interior minister because of their involvement in visa extension for foreigners.

Khalid Memon, the Director of Passports and Immigration office, Karachi has also been suspended after the orders of Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.

The interior minister directed the investigation agency to identify and capture all those who were involved in corruption pertaining to visa extension of foreigners. The minister also ordered to take action against all without any discrimination.

On the orders of the ministry, the power of giving extension in visas to a certain period was taken back from the Passport and Immigration Office. All decisions pertaining to the visa extension would be taken by the interior ministry, in future.
