Indian actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui charged over assaulting a woman

MUMBAI: A case has been registered against actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui for reportedly assaulting and misbehaving with a woman on a dispute over parking space in his residential society in Mumbai.

The complaint was filed by a 24-year-old woman who is a resident of the society and the Versova Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the Indian actor under Indian Penal Code’s Section-354 which is for assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty, an official reported.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui could not be reached out for any statement o clarification immediately, however, his manager Anup Pandey denied any kind of charge.

Anup Pandey claimed, “It is a false case. The case has been registered without investigation. It is a society issue which has been going on for a long time. There was an argument but no ‘hatha pai’ as claimed in the complaint. We will take the matters up.”

According to the police officials, a clash over car parking space occurred  few days ago in the housing society located at Yari Road in suburban Andheri.

The police also added that just one day ago, the housing society authorities had asked the actor through a letter to not to park his car at places which are reserved for two-wheelers only. An argument occurred between Nawazuddin and the complainant in afternoon over the parking issue.

The police also added that according to the complaint, during the exchange of words Nawazzuddin Siddiqui reportedly slapped the woman.

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be seen in the upcoming film Raees that is due to release this year on Eid. The film stars Bollywood King Khan Shah Rukh Khan and Pakistan’s top actress Mahira Khan. Nawazzuddin was earlier seen in the movie Bajrangi Bhaijan in which he played the role of a Pakistani news reporter mimicking the original Pakistani reporter Chaand Nawab whose video went viral on social media.

After a long period of unnoticed performances in his career, he received Special Jury Award at 2012 National Film Awards. His films include Family, Ek Chalis Ki Last Night, Sniffer, Shorts, Dev. D, Aja Nachle, The Kite, Aatma, New York, Black Friday, Talaash, Gangs of Waseepur, Kahaani, Kick, Raees, and Badlapur.
