NEW DELHI: BCCI is all set for the first day and night test in India later this year against New Zealand to raise the ever dwindling number of spectators in the stadium. The BCCI secretary said on Thursday that the BCCI would also use the pink Kookaburra ball for the Test match
We have decided that we will play one day-night Test match with a pink ball against New Zealand later this year. Before that Duleep Trophy acts as a dress rehearsal for the day-night Test match, BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur said in a press conference at the BCCI’s headquarters on Thursday.
He added that Duleep Trophy will act as a dress rehearsal for the day-night Test match and to see how pink Kookaburra behaves under the light in subcontinental conditions.
While we have not zeroed in on the venue, there are lots of factors that need to be taken into account. Things like dew factor, how the spinners bowl with the pink Kookaburra on Indian pitches. These things we will get an idea during the Duleep Trophy.
It is expected that all major players of Indian cricket team will play in that Duleep game to experience and also give reviews to the board before their international Test match against New Zealand. He also indicated that matches will play with SG test balls
We may ask SG to manufacture pink balls later, but that has to be of the quality of pink balls that Kookaburra produces.Things like dew factor, how the spinners bowl with the pink Kookaburra on Indian pitches. These things we will get an idea during the Duleep Trophy.
However, the South African team is reluctant to go ahead with the Twilight Test, which is scheduled for the third Test of the Commonwealth Bank series against Australia at the Adelaide Oval.
