IHC takes back arrest warrant of Chairman NADRA

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday took back its orders to issue arrest warrant against Chairman National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).

Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi, earlier on Wednesday issued bail able arrest warrants of the Chairman NADRA Usman Mubeen over his no appearance in contempt of court proceedings against him which was then took reverted after submitting reason.

Usman Mubeen assured his appearance before the bench on next hearing of the case on March 3. He said that he did not appear as he thought that the court would be closed due to the ECO summit which was under way in Islamabad.

The warrant was issued over the 2010 IHC orders which were not obeyed.

The court had asked NADRA to provide access of the biometric details of land revenue to the Federal Investigation Agency and police and. But NADRA did not act upon orders. Subsequently, former Secretary IHC Bar Association filed contempt of court case the chairman NADRA in 2016.
