Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday has approved the bail plea of Pakistan Peoples Party’s leader Sharjeel Memon.
IHC judges Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani granted protective bail to the former minister Memon.
Earlier, BAAGHI.tv sources reported that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) personnel were fully hopeful of and prepared for the cancellation of the bail plea of PPP’s leader. They informed, in this regard, evidences were also gathered to present in the court.
The accountability bureau on Saturday night took Sharjeel Memon in custody for couple of hours from Islamabad airport when he reached Pakistan after ending his self exile.
He was accompanied by Imdad Pitafi, Mukesh Chawla, Fiaz Bhatt and Taimoor Talpoor when he was detained. PPP’s leader condemned his arrest and mentioned it a “kidnapping.”
Earlier, Memon also questioned that why did the accountability bureau only take action against Peoples Party’s lawmakers and why it does not put names of Sharif family in Exit Control List (ECL).
NAB filed reference against Sharjeel Memon for making corruption of 5.79 billion rupees, illegal award of advertisements and inappropriate use of provincial government’s funds; beside him many other persons are also accused in the same corruption case.
