Karachi: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday has approved bail plea of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM’s) leader Qamar Mansoor in a case registered against him for facilitating inflammatory speech of August 22.

ATC issued orders to release Mansoor.

He was charged with facilitating and arranging hate speech delivered by MQM’s founder Altaf Hussain in August 2016. The speech caused unrest in the provincial capital of Sindh which killed one and left several injured. Party workers also vandalized public property and attacked media houses in Karachi.

He was arrested from Nine Zero in raid on July 17, along with fellow Rabita Committee member Kaif-ul-Wara.

The court today approved Mansoor’s bail plea against security bonds worth Rs4.3 million while Shahid Pasha’s acquittal plea was discarded.

The court today again declared Farooq Sattar an absconder and ordered to present him before ATC on Monday, March 20.
