Hassan Zafar, Kunwar Khalid of MQM-London arrested by Rangers
Karachi: The Sindh Rangers have arrested MQM-London senior leaders Dr Hassan Zafar and Kunwar Khalid Younus here on Saturday, the media reported.
According to the media sources, the MQM London senior members, along with Dr Hassan Zafar and Kunwar Khalid Younus, were about to hold a press conference at Karachi Press Club (KPC) when Rangers officials arrested the MQM leaders.
It is pertinent to mention here that Dr Hassan Zafar has been shifted to some unidentified place for further investigation, the sources added.
The footage revealed that Dr Hassan Zafar was waiting for someone outside the Karachi Press Club (KPC) when Rangers arrested him and took him with them while Kunwar Khalid was arrested from near Governor House.
Separately, Amjad Ullah Khan of MQM-London has announced that they have postponed the press conference on account of arrests.
A couple of days earlier, newly announced leader of MQM Dr Hassan Zafar Arif had said that there was only one MQM and that was led by Altaf Hussain, neither MQM-London nor MQM-Pakistan.
He went on to say that politics is their right and they would exercise it and arrests and other hurdles would not deprive us from struggle.
He was holding a press conference at Karachi Press Club when he asserted that they requested media organizations not to use word ‘MQM-London’ and to avoid changing the name of our Party.
Moreover, he was about to hold a press conference here on Saturday evening when Rangers officials arrested him outside of KPC, the media reported.
