Lahore: After consultation with the party leaders, Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has decided to make a new political alliance.
Zardari said that the party leaders will contact after April 4, death anniversary of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, various leaders of other parties in Punjab for the formation of a new political alliance.
He also said that there was much more to do before the general elections 2018, and new alliance would give suitable response to its political rivals.
Since past few months Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was trying to strengthen its base in Punjab, at a time when the general elections 2018 are much closer. PPP was holding rallies, corner meetings and visiting estranged voters.
Before the general elections, every political party is trying to strengthen its base and to attract more and more voters towards it. Formation of new alliances and launching more appealing schemes, are at the peak.
PML-N was trying hard to retain its political position in Punjab and trying to divert the attention of PPP by launching mega projects in Sindh and highlighting the issues and problems of the province. Meanwhile PPP has been trying to flex its political muscle in Punjab.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) could face a tough time in its base, Punjab, due to the reactivation of PPP in the province.
