Former PM Sharif Released from Jail

The power of money at its peak?

In a recent turn of events, Pakistani politics have taken a sudden U-turn with the unexpected release of Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Capt. (R.) Safdar from prison earlier today, sources claim.

According to The Spectator Index, Nawaz Sharif the former Prime minister for Pakistan is set to be released from jail.

Furthermore, the Islamabad Highcourt has reportedly ordered to release the ex-PM after only two months into a 10-year jail sentence. He was sentenced to jail over confirmed allegations of corruption. His daughter, Maryam Nawaz was also acquitted for abetting in the trial, however, their sentences have been suspended earlier today, claims BBC.

Moreover, this decision is believed in part to be linked to an appeals process lodged by Sharif and his companions. The disappointing ruling has come only a week into the passing of his late wife, Begum Kalsoom Nawaz, who died from cancer while under treatment in London.
