Lahore: Sarfraz Khokhar, the former Punjab parliamentarian has announced his decision to join opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the sources reported.
Sarfraz Hussain Khokhar was elected to the Punjab Provincial Assembly in 1997 on PML-N’s ticket from Lahore.
Sarfraz Khokhar was welcomed by PTI leader Aleem Khan on joining his party.
Aleem Khan stated on this occasion that his party would become stronger with the addition of Sarfraz Khokhar.
On the other hand, the police have arrested 30 more workers of PTI ahead of planned protests to shut down the capital on Wednesday, a PTI official said on Saturday, as the party cancelled a rally in the capital.
On Friday, supporters of PTI leader Imran Khan, the cricketer-turned politician and one of the leaders of opposition in National Assembly clashed with police in Rawalpindi and Khan accused the government of placing him under virtual house arrest.
Police on Thursday arrested 38 PTI workers at a youth rally, hours after the local authorities imposed a two-month ban on all public gatherings in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
