GUJRAT: At least five militants, affiliated with Al-Qaeda and Tehreek-e-Taliban, killed on Thursday during an encounter with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Kanja area of Gujrat. Security forces also arrested 70 during search operations in several areas.
However, three of the close contacts managed to slip from the spot. A huge reserve of arms and ammunition were also recovered. CTD claimed that the killed terrorists were planning to target innocents in Gujrat and Khariyan.
A joint combing operation was conducted by the police and rangers in Jawwad town, an area of Attock. Five suspects were detained from the location along with the body parts of Mushtaq Jet.
During another search operation, conducted in Jacobabad, one suspect was detained by the forces and explosive material was also recovered.
Several suspects also arrested during raids from areas of Hafizabad, Lodhran, Bhakkar and Mandi Bahaudin.
Earlier this week, CTD arrested two suspected ISIS, Daesh, terrorists during raid in Sialkot. The terrorists were planning to attack law enforcement agencies personal, the department’s spokesperson reported.
Rad-ul-Fassad was started by the military forces to remove terrorists and their hideouts from the state after the wave of terrorism during February which killed several innocents. Thousands of suspects were detained by the security forces during the countrywide operation Rad-ul-Fassad
