FIA arrests PMLN MNA at Lahore airport
Lahore: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials have arrested Chaudhry Abid Raza, the MNA of PMLN on Friday, from Allama Iqbal International Airport here on Friday, the sources reported.
The FIA officials interrogated him for 90 minutes after they ordered him to stop leaving the country. He was reportedly to travel to Turkish capitol Ankara.
It is pertinent to mention here that a court had found PMLN MNA Abid Raza guilty of the murder of six people in Gujrat in 1998 while an anti-terrorism court had announced death sentence to the culprits in that case in 2003.
However, the PML-N parliamentarian was released on bail following a settlement with the aggrieved party.
The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan later took notice of his bail and ordered the Lahore High Court (LHC) to have a deep look into the case and submit the comprehensive report.
The court had remarked that any criminal, who would be facing terrorism charges against him, could not be granted bail. The apex court had announced life imprisonment for Abid Raza but the guilty had escaped from the court premises.
