Federal cabinet approves recommendations of FATA reforms Committee

Islamabad: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday chaired the meeting of Feral cabinet which approved reforms package for Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

The amendment, followed by suggested reforms, will merge FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zafar Iqbal Jhagra was also present in the meeting. The process will take five years as the law and order situation in the tribal areas is not favorable to conducting major changes in the system.

BY this amendment the share of KPK in NFC will also see raise of 3%.

Prime Minister, in the meeting, gave stress to focus on underdeveloped areas for improving living standards of public. He said: “It is an obligation of federal and provincial governments to work for the welfare of people.”

Nawaz Sharif said, people of FATA, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) will get their due rights.

Tribal people are patriotic and always work for the betterment of Pkaistan; Nawaz added, it is a time to curtail their sense of deprivation and to bring them into main stream.

After the acceptance of recommendation, amendments will be made in constitution after which FATA will be integrated with KKP province; Frontier Crime Regulation (FCR) law will also be rolled out.
