Fault in submarine cables disrupts Internet across Pakistan

Authentic reports of sluggish and no internet have received from across Pakistan with very low download speed or browsing experience.

According to details, a fault has occurred in the submarine cables. At least 95 percent of Pakistan has faced no internet or sluggish internet.

Pakistan is currently experiencing degraded internet speeds due to a submarine cable fault in IMEWE (India-Middle East-Western Europe) cable system.

A fault in IMEWE cable system occurred near Jeddah which is causing disruption in internet services. The IMEWE cable, when fully functional, has the design capacity of transporting 3.84Tbps of bandwidth.

In Pakistan, Pakistan Telecommunication Limited (PTCL) is the major consumer of IMEWE cable and all ISPs that depend on PTCL’s backhaul are going to get impacted by this incident. The estimate time to resolve (ETTR) for IMEWE is not communicated as of yet.
