Ex-employee of KMC jumps to death over pension issue
Karachi: Former employee of KMC has jumped from Civic Center building to his death here on Monday, the sources revealed.
According to the sources, sixty-year-old Muhammad Iqbal, a former Karachi Metropolitan Corporation worker, lost his life after jumping from a six-storey building in connection with a pension issue.
The Karachi police reported that it was a suicidal incident and Iqbal reportedly lost his life after being refused from release of funds.
Moreover, a KMC spokesman claimed that there was no outstanding pension of the former worker and that he had been paid his dues regularly.
The police report further explained that former KMC employee Iqbal who retired from his service in 1999, had been visiting the KMC office in Civic Centre for several months but he was not given his pending dues.
It is pertinent to mention here that at the time of the incident, no close circuit television cameras (CCTV) were installed to record the occurrence.
Separately, a student of UET Lahore, committed suicide on June 15 after he failed courses several times. The student’s family blamed teachers and university for his fatal step.
