England beat Pakistan in 3rd ODI, win series at 3-0 up
Nottingham (AFP): England beat Pakistan by 169 runs to win the third one-day international at Trent Bridge on Tuesday and so take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.
England’s victory in this day/night match was all but assured after they made a new ODI record total of 444 for three featuring opener Alex Hales’s national best 171 and Jos Buttler’s blistering unbeaten 90.
Pakistan opener Sharjeel Khan made 58 as did Mohammad Amir — the highest ODI score by a No 11 batsman — before the tourists were bowled out for 275 with 44 balls to spare.
The series continues at Headingley, Yorkshire’s Leeds headquarters, on Thursday.
