SINDH: A transformers of 500KV grid station caught fire in the Guddu Barrage. As a result, electricity distribution to Islamabad, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad & Peshawar (& their surrounding areas) has been disrupted. Fire fighters are still going on with the extinguishing the fire.
Guddu Barrage is a barrage on the Indus River near Kashmore in the Sindh.
On Friday, several areas in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan had to go through a similar power shortage where a transmission line tripped near Muzafargarh.
The areas affected by Guddu Barrage’s fire have been facing electricity shortfall from 3 p.m.
According to sources, there occured a fault in the 500kv transmission line at the Guddu power plant which resulted in the tripping of the main power stations in Mangla, Tarbela and Ghazi Barotha.
