Eight Afghan forces personnel die in militants’ attack
Kabul: At least eight Afghan border police personnel were killed when Taliban fighters attacked an outpost in Torkham border area of Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar province, the Afghan media reported.
The outpost was invaded for a short period of time and Taliban captured all the weapons and equipment left, a provincial council member from Nangarhar informed.
Spokesman for the Nangarhar provincial governor Attaullah Khugyani confirmed the assault but did not tell about the total number of casualties.
Afghan forces have retaken control of the outstation, the spokesperson added.
In addition to Taliban militants that are fighting against Afghan forces in the province and across the country, Nangarhar has been a concentrated pocket for IS militants as well.
Currently IS militants have presence in four districts of Nangarhar province and since Saturday, are fighting with Afghan Forces in Pachiragam district as they take control of more ground.
