Dr Zakir Naik’s father passes away in Mumbai
Mumbai: Islamic preacher Dr Zakir Naik’s father Abdul Karim Naik, a physician and an educationist, passed away at his home here early this morning after suffering a cardiac pain. He was 87.
He suffered a cardiac arrest at 3.30am at his home in Mazgaon and could not recover from that. Abdul Karim Naik had been keeping unwell from sometime. He was laid to rest at a graveyard in the same area,” an associate of Dr Zakir Naik said.
According to the sources, Dr Zakir Naik was not able to attend his father’s funeral held at Nariyal Wadi graveyard.
The Indian media reported that its not possible for Dr Zakir Naik to reach India at short notice so he remained unsuccessful to attend his father’s last rites.
However, Zakir’s brother Mohammad and his son Fariq along with several other male members of the family were present at the funeral.
According to the details, Abdul Naik born in Ratnagiri in coastal Maharashtra, was a doctor, served as the president of the Bombay Psychiatric Society, a private organization of mental health professionals, in 1994-95.
Abdul Karim Naik had also been active in the field of education.
