This week, during the town hall appearance, Donald Trump had defended a retweet that he made of a picture contrasting his wife, Melania, with the Texas Senator Ted Cruz’s wife, Heidi.
The meme was nasty & petty. Heidi Cruz, her teeth gnashing & mouth slightly ajar, and she is staring off to the side.
In the picture, Melania Trump appeared like a model, which she once was.
Donald Trump, when interviewed by the CNN why he would spread such a thing, pretended to be completely unaware about it.
“I thought it was a nice picture of Heidi,” he elaborated.
Visibly, Donald Trump was lying.
On this weekend, Trump had basically confirmed that.
Pressed by “Fox News Sunday” about bringing the wives into presidential campaign, Donald Trump continued to blame the Ted Cruz operation for launching the 1st salvo (in fact, it was an anti-Trump super PAC).
Trump also performed the rarest of Trump acts: he expressed regret.
“If I had to do it again, I probably would not have sent it,” said Trump. “I did not think it was particularly bad. But I probably would not have sent it.”
It is a bit weird for Trump (and for us) to apologize or to feel regretful. Maybe it is the first step in the right direction of maybe a hidden agenda.
