Lahore: Reservations of people who belong to South Punjab are soon to be ended as the government has decided to divide the Punjab province into two administrative sections.
Sources informed that two additional chief secretaries would be appointed; one would hold office in Lahore while the other one would take charge of the new office in Multan.
Both additional chief secretaries would control and deal with matters of their respective districts, one from Lahore will control the administrative issues of central Punjab. Additional secretary from Multan would deal with matters of South Punjab.
Sources further informed that rescue services will also be taken out from the control of Secretary Home Punjab and the charge would be given to the Additional Secretaries of grade 22.
Political parties also welcomed the decision and said that the step would minimize the grievance of those belonging to South Punjab.
South Punjab including Multan district is considered as the area with low development rate. Most of the people of the area belong to poor families; several areas of its districts lack access to basic facilities of health, education, clean water, healthy eatables and electricity. The situation aroused the sense of deprivation among natives of the South Punjab, which needed to be addressed soon.
