Islamabad: Justcie Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui on Friday said Pakistan had its own constitution, Denmark or Norway’s laws could not be implemented in the country.
He was hearing the case filed against the presence of blasphemous content over social media.
During today’s hearing of the case, Justice Siddiqui questioned Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) about its progress in the case. Director FIA replied to the honorable court that 70 persons have been identified over the controversial pages, however agency is still looking forward to Facebook administration’s reply.
FIA also informed that an officer had been placed in Washington to deal with the matter; he added, Interpol’s cyber wing was also approached.
The court got irked over statement and asked FIA Director to stop telling tales and inform if real time progress was being made by the authority.
Court directed to get the help of higher officials of ISI in the investigations, he added, “FIA has failed in investigations so far.”
The judge also got annoyed over Absar Alam, the Chairman Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) and said he did not take any step over vulgarity aired by media. He said “TV channels airing boyfriend, girlfriend things; Chairman PEMRA what you did so far?”
Absar responded that he would fulfill expectations.
The court directed the chairman to form committee to remove vulgarity and also ordered the same to secretary information.
During the hearing the court was informed that in Islamabad a man named Nasir Sultan claimed to be prophet. He asked the court to put his name in the Exit Control List. The court said only accused persons were in front of the court and accusations on them remained to be proved.
Later the court adjourned hearing till March 22.
