Corps Commanders Meet – Gen Raheel Stresses ‘Consolidation of Long-Term Gains’

RAWALPINDI: General Raheel Sharif , the Chief of Army Staff on Monday emphasized the “need to consolidate long-term gains” as military moves towards the conclusion of  large-scale kinetic operation in the FATA (Federally Administered Tribal Areas).

Lt Gen Asim Bajwa, who is the director general of Inter-Services Public Relation, said that Gen Raheel Sharif directed “escalating pace of IBOs (intelligence-based operations) across country to eliminate the entire infrastructure of terrorism in Pakistan.”

The army chief, who was speaking to a corps commanders conference that was held at the General Headquarters situated in Rawalpindi, called out for the more effective border management & the continued proactive dominance of cleared areas to maintain writ of the state in Federally Administered Tribal Areas, tweeted Bajwa.

“The return of the temporarily displaced persons must complete acc. to decided schedule,” General Raheel was  quoted as saying.

Bajwa also said that military commanders who were present in the meeting resided at length on the internal & external security situations among other professional matters.

Participants of conference also took a holistic view of emerging geo-strategic environment and its relevance to security of the country, added Bajwa.

The chief of military’s media wing claimed that General Raheel Sharif expressed his satisfaction over the “progress of ongoing operation in Shawal & the adjoining areas in North Waziristan Agency.”

The army chief, General Raheel Sharif also paid rich tributes to sacrifices that were laid by the men of security agencies and the officers in the operation Zarb-i-Azb and, swearing that “under no circumstances will these gains be compromised.”
