In a rare move, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has phoned former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to convey his wishes for the health of latter’s wife Kulsoom Nawaz who has been diagnosed with throat cancer.
General Bajwa “expressed his best wishes and prayers for the health of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz Sharif”, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said in a tweet on Wednesday.

Kulsoom Nawaz was diagnosed with throat cancer during the undergoing medical tests in London. Reportedly her disease is in initial stages and curable.

It is pertinent to mention here that Kulsoom Nawaz is also the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) candidate for NA-120 by-polls.
The NA-120 seat, Lahore-III, fell vacant after the Supreme Court of Pakistan disqualified Nawaz Sharif as the premier of the country, and asked the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to issue a notification removing him as a member of the National Assembly.
