Rawalpindi: The Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday. He showed Chinese government’s satisfaction on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The ambassador appreciated the steps taken by Pakistan army for the promotion of peace and security. He acknowledged the working and struggles of Pakistan Army to get rid of militant and terrorist groups.
The matters of regional security and other mutual interest topics were also discussed in the sitting.
China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a part of Bejing Belt and Road plan, costing forty-six billion dollars. It is aimed to provide China an easier access to Middle east countries and a to enlarge the trade and transportation activities across Central and South Asia through waters of Pakistan at Gawadar. It is also to rebuild and expand Silk Route.
CPEC is linked with the Chinese strategy of the development of its Western areas with Pakistan, which will boost the economy and infrastructure of both the countries. CPEC also provides many other progress opportunities to Pakistan related to energy sector, railways, road way projects, project financing.
CPEC has made Gawadar, Pakistan a hub of trade and transportation activities. Chinese Ambassador showed his government’s belief in the efforts made by Pakistan to promote and secure the project.
