Baaghi.tv has just now received an exclusive statement from the the Election commission regarding local body elections given in the video above. The message is from Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan Justice (Retd) Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan on Local Government Elections being held in the provinces of Punjab and Sindh on October 31, 2015.
The first round of local body election begins tomorrow in which 12 districts of Punjab will elect their local body representatives in polling which will start at 7:30 in the morning and continue till 5:30 pm. Elections are being held for the position of Chairman Punjab, Vice Chairman Punjab and local Councillors.
Voters should note that as per the rules of Election Commission of Pakistan ECP, the ballot papers for Chairman and Vice Chairman will be of blue colour and those on which the vote for Councillors is to be cast will white. In addition to this, as per ECP rules no votes are to be cast on expired ID cards, ID card slips which are issues when ID card of a person is being processed with NADRA), passports or driver licences.
Army troops will be present during the elections but against popular belief, Army forces will not be there to ensure free anf fair elections. They will only be there to ensure smooth electoral process and to maintain law and order. This has been confirmed by ISPR Inter Services Public Relations)
