The Bollywood actress is fixed to perform a brothel madam in Begum Jaan, director Srijit Mukherjee’s Hindi re-creation of a Bengali Partition tale, Raj Kahini.
The shooting will start from June 10,” said Mukherjee, who was present at the screening of National award winning film “Shankhachil”.
The movie, produced by Mahesh Bhatt, will highpoint the consequences of the Partition on a brothel’s women who were emigrant after the border was tired. The unusual Begum Jaan was frolicked by famous actor Rituparno Sengupta.
The director has proclaimed that he will start the shoot in June.
“We are on the way to remake the ‘Rajkahini’ that deals with the aftermath of Partition in Bengal. It has been titled ‘Begum Jaan’ and Vidya Balan is playing the role of Begum Jaan. The shooting will begin from June 10,” said Mukherjee at a film screening, reports Indian Express.
“For Bengal and Punjab, the partition is a heart-breaking saga. I wish more movies should be made on this topic,” added the National award-winning director.
Mahesh Bhatt, who was stirred by the expressive blatancy of “Rajkahini” is creating the Hindi cover. Separately from “Begum Jaan”, Mukherjee is also coming up with crime drama “Zulfiqar”, founded on two of William Shakespeare’s calamities: “Julius Caesar” and “Antony and Cleopatra”.
The actress was whispered to be employed in the Hindi version of Srijit Mukherji’s Bengali film Rajkahini.
The actress conversely repudiated this and said, ‘Begum Jaan is not a remake of Rajkahini, but it is based on the story of the film. I will be playing the role of Begum Jaan (a brothel owner).’
Vidya said in a conference, ‘I have to find the right script. I get offers but I have not been excited by anyone so far. I am working with Bengali directors and I am shooting here so it’s as good as working in a Bengali film I guess.’
