Barricades, containers land Lahorites in trouble

Difficulties of the Lahorites have been multiplied with erecting of barricades and containers from Azadi Chowk to Data Darbar ahead of the Nawaz Sharif rally that is about to arrive in Lahore today.

The rally route rally will be properly inspected by the personnel of the special branch and the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS). Sniffer dogs are also being used for the proper checking of the route. Elite Force, contingents of commandos and police personnel would be deployed for protection of the rally when it enters the city limits.

Meanwhile, the traffic police have also devised an extensive traffic plan to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city. According to the plan, four SPs, 20 DSPs, 70 inspectors and over 2,000 traffic wardens would perform duties during the arrival of the rally.

The traffic from Imamia Colony to Data Darbar has been divided into 11 sectors which will be monitored by one DSP each. People who are travelling to Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar and Azad Kashmir have been directed to use Motorway for which Babu Sabu and Thokar Niaz Beg Interchanges will be opened.

Metro Bus Service will be closed from MAO College to Shahdara but will be opened from MAO College to Gajumata.

To deal with any emergency situation, 18 fork-lifters and six medical camps have been installed on the rally route. On the other side, the control room at the Safe City Authority office and monitoring room at Qurban Lines have also been formed.
