Karachi, December 08 (Online): An Anti-terrorist court (ATC) on Saturday indicted Mayor Karachi Syed Waseem Akhtar and others in two more cases pertaining to May 12 riots in the metropolis, which claimed over 50 lives. .
The court indicted all 21 accused, who appeared before the court, to the charges, which include clauses related to attempted murder, creating unrest and spreading terror. However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Further, the court declared 15 other accused in the said cases as absconders.
The court summoned witnesses to appear before the court on the next hearing, which is yet to fixed.
The ATC had already indicted Akhtar and other accused early this year in two separate cases pertaining to the May 12 carnage.
More than 50 people were killed and over 100 were injured when miscreant’s attacks people who were going to receive the then deposed chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry at the Karachi airport ahead of a lawyers’ gathering on May 12, 2007.
