ATC ends case filed against MQM leaders


Karachi: An Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday has ended one of the cases filed against Muttahidda Qaumi Movement leaders.

The court heard thirty four cases of hate speeches filed against MQM leaders including its founder Altaf Hussain. Qamar Mansoor, Khawaja Izhar, Rauf Siddiqui, Mahfooz Yar Khan were present in the hearing whereas, Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar is free on bail in the case.

The investigation officer told the court that in FIR 778/2016 no witness exists. Hence why not the case should be ended up, after which court took action and finished the case.

Other cases filed against Muttahidda’s leaders will be heard on April 8.

ATC adjourned today’s hearing till next.

On August 22, 2016 MQM founder Altaf Hussain delivered his speech against Pakistan; during and after the speech, MQM leaders and workers also raised slogans against the country. On this inflammatory speech 34 cases were registered against MQM founder and its leaders naming above 200 hundred proclaimed.

In last hearing of the case on February 27, ATC directed to put names of Farooq Sattar, Maqbool Siddiqui and Amir Liaquat in Exit Control List.
