Apple offer free Beats headphones to students who buy new computers or ipads

Apple’s is giving free headphones to people. So long as they’re a student and buy a new computer.

The company has launched its back to school deal, which gives people buying a laptop, iMac or iPad a free Beats product as well.

Anyone who is a current or incoming student or their parent, or teachers and staff in education, can get access to the deal.

As well as coming with the free Beats, Apple will offer up to £270 off a new Mac or £59 off a new iPad. And people can get up to £845 in credit for those computers if they trade in their old Mac.

Apple’s back to school deals are the flagship part of their education scheme, which offers discounts on the usual price throughout the year. It is an attempt to make its computers more affordable, as well as presumably getting people hooked on its operating systems so that they’ll continue to buy Apple products throughout their life.

The reduced pricing and deal don’t apply to other Apple products like the iPhone or Apple Watch. It does, however, apply to Apple Music, which is available at half price for £4.99 for students.

Which headphones people get will depend on what they buy. Anyone buying any kind of Mac – including the various MacBooks, the iMac and Mac Pro – will get a free pair of the over-ear Beats Solo 3 Wireless headphones. Students buying an iPad will get the in-ear Beats earphones.
