LAHORE: Opposition Leader in Senate Aitzaz Ahsan on Friday demanded of the government to conduct forensic audit of the prime minister and his family’s wealth in offshore companies.
While talking to media outside the Lahore High Court on Friday, he said that a new law should be enacted for the terms of reference (TOR) in the matter.
Ahsan demanded that the prime minister should tell the parliament about his foreign holdings. He also demanded investigation into the assets of PM Nawaz Sharif and his family.
“The prime minister is only cursing the opposition at public meetings. The Sharif family did not pay a single paisa tax in 1994 and 1996. How tens of millions of rupees flow out of the country in sacks and boxes, and there should be a forensic audit of the issue,” he added.
PPP Senator went on to say that the forensic audit of Panama Papers should be conducted to find out bank transactions. He said billions of rupees for offshore companies were not transferred in bags.
