Islamabad, October 04 (Online): The Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) has declared the appointment of two top officials of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against the law.
A report presented by AGP at National Assembly said that Brig (R) Abbass Khan was appointed as DG Admin in ECP on 19th May 2015 against ECP rules 1989. It is mandatory to consult defence ministry in connection with appointment of retired army officer in any institution.
The report further disclosed that the appointment of Additional Director General Gender officer was also made against the ECP rules, as she was not having 16 year professional experience in the field. The interview record of the relevant candidates has not been compiled and the approval of competent authority for making appointment in Grade 20 post has not been taken.
The Auditor General of Pakistan had recommended that the responsibility be fixed in the matter of appointments made against the rules.
Audit report further pointed out that the ECP paid honorarium around 1.255 million rupees to employees of various departments, against the rules.
