ATC releases Pervez Musharraf in Akbar Bugti case

QUETTA(Dunya News) – Former President Pervez Mushareaf has been acquitted by Anti-terrorism court regarding the murder case of Baloch tribal leader Nawab Akbar Bugti today (Monday).

The court has accepted the absolution petition which includes three accused personnels named former interior minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao and former home minister of Balochistan Mir Shoaib Nowsherwani and former President Pervez Musharraf in the Baloch leader’s murders.

A military operation was conducted in 2006 ordered by Pervez Musharraf, when he was the president of Pakistan killed Nawab Akbar Bugti former chief minister of Balochistan and head of his tribe.

Pervez Musharraf was charged against the murder of Akbar Bugti on January 14,2015 by Anti-terrorism court.

Bugti emphasised and initiated a campaign about the rights of Balochistan which includes provincial autonomy and increase in the profit spans of the province from their own resources as they thought they were depriving of their own rights.

Nawabzada Jamil Akbar Bugti, son of the Baloch chieftain, had named Musharraf and other former ministers in the murder of his father.
