A man armed with a knife was arrested in front of Parliament in London, a police spokesman told AFP on Friday.
“The man was in possession of a knife,” the spokesman said, adding that no one had been injured.
According to the police, however, the incident was not related to terrorism. The man is about thirty years old.
This arrest comes when the country has been mourned by several attacks.
Security around Parliament has been seriously reinforced since a man on March 22 drove a car into the crowd on the Westminster Bridge before stabbing a policeman stationed in front of Parliament. A total of five people were killed in the attack and the assailant was killed.
Since then, London has been hit by a new attack. On 3 June, three young men hit pedestrians in a van on the London Bridge, before assaulting passers-by with knives around the Borough Market market, where they were shot dead by the police. Eight people were killed.
Two weeks earlier, on 22 May, Salman Abedi, a 22-year-old Libyan-born British, blew himself up after a concert by US singer Ariana Grande in Manchester, England. The attack, claimed by the Islamic State group, killed 22 people and injured dozens. (AFP reported)
