7 security officials killed in Naxals attack on convoy in India

Dantewada: At least seven security personnel have been killed after Naxals attacked their convoy in insurgency-hit Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.

According to Indian media, deceased jawans of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were part of 230 battalion.

India.com reported that Naxals attacked when the CRPF convoy was passing through Malewara in Dantewada, which is considered stronghold of the militants.

An armourred vehicle was blown up by the attackers resulting death of 7 CRPF jawans.

”All the dead security personnel belonged to the 230 batallion of the CRPF,” said Dantewada SP K Kashyap confirming the attack.

The death toll may rise.

At least two CRPF jawans were injured on March 18 in two separate incidents of Naxal attacks in Dantewada.
