5.8 quake with epicenter in Afghanistan jolts Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Strong tremors have been felt in capital city Islamabad and its adjacent territories on Saturday.

Reports said the seismic tremor that shook the nation from Mansehra to Kasur, went on for just few second.

As indicated by geological wing of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) tremor measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale was felt in Peshawar, Swat and other encompassing zones of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Saturday.

The dazes were likewise felt in Mohmand Agency, Kurram Agency of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and a few localities of Punjab including Lahore, Sargodha, Chiniot and Mianwali.

The epicenter of the earthquake 35km SSE of Jarm, Afghanistan with magnitude 5.3 near Feyzabad, Afghanistan at 08:37:22.50 UTC on Jan 2, 2016.

No misfortune to property or life has been known for yet.

Fear and freeze has held the inhabitants, particularly in the precipitate locales which got a 7.5 Richter scale quake on October 26 – focused in the Hindu Kush, the 800km mountain that extends between central Afghanistan and northern Pakistan – leaving more than 300 individuals dead and more than 2,000 injured.

A chain of earthquake has shocked the meteorological department and the real cause has yet not been discovered by the specialists.
