Zayn Malik is always successful to be in news whether it’s about his relationship with supermodel Gigi Hadid or his songs.
But this time there is something different related to Zayn as he opened up about his battle with depression and eating disorder while telling how he overcame the situation.
Famous singer told that spending time at home with parents with a break from the spotlight helped him conquer his anxiety demons.
Zayn also explained how depression and mental issues forbade him to give live solo performances a year ago.
The One Direction singer developed an eating disorder at the height of the band’s fame. He confessed he used to go ‘two or three days straight’ without eating.
On his eating battle, Zayn said: “It was a control thing.”
“Every area of my life was so regimented and controlled it was the one area where I could say, ‘No, I’m not eating that.’ Once I got over the control, the eating just came back into place, supernaturally,” he further added.
Zayn told how his mother helped him out of that phase. He said, “I came back to the UK and spent some time with my mom and got some TLC, and she cooked me food and I got back in touch, mentally, with a lot of the things I’d lost.”
His girlfriend Gigi Hadid also became his support and wrote on tweeter, “I’ve seen the battles you go through and the way you fight to get to a place that allows you to get up there for your fans. Your bravery in those times makes me proud, but your honesty last night proved what you’re all about, being real.”
Zayn Malik was of the view that men should not be afraid to express their emotions. “We’re all human. People are often afraid to admit difficulties, but I don’t believe that there should be a struggle with anything that’s the truth. If you were a guy, you used to have to be really masculine, but now expressing emotion is accepted and respected”, he added.
