LAHORE: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Punjab on Friday announced a ‘long march’ on Lahore in favour of their demands including time up-gradation and pay raise.
Doctors would march from Rahim Yar Khan, Rawalpindi and other parts of the province on Lahore and would stage a sit-in in front of the Chief Minister House or Punjab Assembly on May 11.
YDA President Dr Ajmal Chaudhry while addressing a press conference at the Allama Iqbal Medical College on Friday said that the government should declare public hospitals ‘zero tolerance zones’ and provide foolproof security to all employees.
He said that one time up-gradation should be given to all doctors and doctors should be recruited in grade 18 instead of 17 and their salaries should be increased as promised by Assistant of Chief Minister on Health Khajawa Salman.
He said that the government should also restore 15 per cent cut on health budget in order to ensure smooth supply of drugs in hospitals.
Dr Chaudhry warned if the government tried to sabotage their long march, it would be held responsible for any possible mishap.
