Hundreds of protesters bust through barricades and threw eggs at police outside a California building where party favourite Donald Trump was due to address the state’s Republican convention.
The demonstrations within the town of Burlingame briefly delayed a speech by the Donald Trump.
Because of the protest, Mr. Trump had to enter the building via a rear entrance.
Mr. Trump’s rallies are unyielding by violence.
On Thursday, a patrol car had its windows smashed as Mr. Trump spoke within a hall in the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa. Some twenty arrests were made.
The Trump campaign had to cancel numerous rallies in March after many protesters threatened to disrupt events in Chicago and St Louis.
Before his speech on Friday, the news helicopters revealed Trump and his security detail crossing a highway before getting into the building via a side entrance.
On stage, Mr. Trump jested regarding the protesters, saying, “that wasn’t the simplest entrance I ever made.”
“I felt like I was crossing the border,” he said, which he walked through “dirt & mud” to get to building just outside San Francisco.
Many of the protesters outside his speech were conflicting against his positions on the immigration. He’s advocated constructing a border wall with Mexico that he says Mexico would pay money for.
He has additionally said the Mexicans as “rapists” and criminals to blame for bringing black-market medicine into the United States.
Mr. Donald Trump is extraordinarily unpopular among Latino voters and California has a giant Mexican-American population.
Protests are expected to continue till the California primary is held on June 7th.
Mr. Trump has referred to himself as the Republican “presumptive nominee” after string of primary wins.
In the terms of delegate support, Trump is way ahead of his nearest rivals, The Texas Senator Ted Cruz and the Ohio Gov., John Kasich.
On the other aspect of the race, Clinton is predicted to beat Sanders to the Democratic nomination and fight for the presidency in Nov’s election.
