PM Nawaz leaves for UK for medical check-up

Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday has left for London for medical checkup.

According to the PM House, the Prime Minister would undergo a detailed medical check-up. Nawaz Sharif’s family members are accompanying the premier.

In a statement, the spokesperson said that owing to his engagements; the Prime Minister had postponed his medical check-up for various times.

It seems, London is likely to become hub of political activities of Pakistan in the aftermath of Panama Leaks as the heads of other major political parties will also be in London in the next few days.

Chairmen of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will depart for London in coming days.

According to media reports, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar would reach London on April 15.

PM Nawaz is expected to meet co-chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari, to discuss Panama leaks issue.

On April 3 leaked documents from the Panama-based Mossack Fonseca law firm showed that Sharif’s daughter Mariam and sons Hussain and Hassan owned at least three offshore companies registered in the British Virgin Islands (BVI).

Last weeks Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif addressed the nation by state-run television to defend his family’s business practices, denying any wrongdoing.

PM also ordered to set up a commission to investigate allegations, based on leaked documents from Panama Papers.

PTI chairman Imran Khan, have accused Sharif’s family of having gained the funds illegally through corruption during his premier turns.

Imran Khan had also signaled to summon All Parties Conference (APC) to launch a movement against the government.

In a bid to give tough time to government on Panama leaks, PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi held a meeting with PPP leaders including Aitzaz Ahsan, Khurshid Shah to discuss a joint strategy on Tuesday.

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jehangir Tareen also met with Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) leader and Ex-chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.

PM Nawaz Sharif and his family have denied any wrongdoing.
