ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday, has named Dean Jones as the favorite one for Pakistan cricket team’s head coach job and may join the team in May.
Moreover, national cricket team’s former players Mohsin Khan and Iqbal Qasim have also been named for the post of team manager and chief selector, respectively.
Moreover, it is also reported that the former team manager, Moin Khan is not invovled in PCB’s current planning.
PCB officials told Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), “Mohsin was willing to become the head coach, however, the PCB had offered him the post of the chief selector. But Mohsin rejected the offer; therefore, the cricket board decided to assign him as team manager. The job of chief selector may be given to Iqbal Qasim.”
Moreover, earlier, Aqib Javed, former cricketer rejected to apply as head coach for the country’s cricket team.
According to The News Tribe, Aqib Javed said in a local television show that he felt insulting to apply for the job of head coach at the time when PCB sis running behind Tom Mody and Dean Jones.
He also mentioned that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) officials respect him alot and therefore, he will not leave the coaching of that cricket team.
Aqib Javed remained head coach of Pakistan under-19 in World Cup 2004 however, left as bowling coach in 2012 in order to join UAE as the head coach.
Furthermore, Waqar Younis just resigned from the post of head coach after the miserable exit of Pakistan cricket team of World T20 this year.
The poor performance received much outrage and moreover, the cricket fans bashed him for the team’s performance. Shahid Khan Afridi was also criticized a lot but he rejected to resign as player, however, resigned as captain and said he would continue to play for the team.
