Pakistanis celebrated Eidul Azha with great religious zeal and fervour to honour willingness of Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son Prophet Ismail (AS) upon Allah’s Command.
The day began with special prayers in mosques for the welfare of the Muslim Ummah and security of the country.
Eid congregations were held at mosques, Eidgahs and open places in all the cities, towns and villages across the country. Religious clerics highlighted the significance of the day and philosophy of sacrifice.
In Islamabad, the main Eid congregation was held at Faisal Mosque where federal ministers, politicians and parliamentarians, Muslim diplomats and notables joined thousands of faithful in the prayers. After offering the Eid prayers, the faithful slaughtered their sacrificial animals in remembrance of Sunnat-e Ibrahimi.
Federal and provincial governments had chalked out elaborate security arrangements across the country to avoid any untoward incident. Civic authorities of different cities and towns have also made special arrangements for disposal of offal and other solid waste during the three days of Eid.
In Karachi, the main congregation of Eid was held at Gulshan-e-Jinnah (old Polo Ground). The Sindh government has made foolproof security arrangements for the three days of Eidul Azha. Special arrangements have also been made to lift the offal of sacrificial animals and their effective disposal.
Sindh Police spokesperson has asked the people to contact Madadgar-15, nearest police station or patrolling police parties in case they witness any criminal or suspicious activity.
In Lahore and other parts of Punjab, Eid congregations were held at mosques, Eidgahs and open places. Punjab Governor Rafique Rajawana offered Eid prayer at Governor House Lahore. Police have also made strict security arrangements for the three days of Eid.
In Peshawar, the main congregation of Eidul Azha was held at Eidgah Charsadda Road. Eid prayers were also offered at 200 other places. A comprehensive security plan had been chalked-out to maintain peaceful atmosphere in the provincial metropolis on the occasion of Eidul Azha.
In Muzaffarabad, the main Eid congregation was held at Markazi Eidgah. Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Sardar Masood Khan offered Eid prayer at his native town Chowgali Kot Mattey Khan in Rawalakot while Prime Minster Raja Farooq Haider Khan offered Eid prayer at Muzaffarabad.
