Islamabad: Turk staff of Park Turk Schools refused orders of Government of Pakistan to leave the country and are seeking asylum in Pakistan.
The Turk Staff contacted UNHCR seeking asylum in Pakistan; UNHCR had also issued forms to 350 employees for asylum. Interior Ministry has planned to raise this issue before the Prime Minister.
According to reports Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be approached soon by Interior Ministry to sort out this problem. Ministry had taken notice of the disobedience of orders by Turkish employees.
Visas of the Turk Staff of Park-Turk Schools were cancelled in November and all of them were ordered to leave the country within three days. Only 40 staff members and their families left Pakistan; other 350 had refused to go back to Turkey and are seeking asylum in Pakistan for themselves and families.
This chain of school belongs to Fateh Ullah Golen, who is accused of Turkish rebel attempt in 2016. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavusoglu had requested Pakistan to cut this network from the country and said that it would be a risk to the national security of Pakistan. After which Pakistan took an action on it. After the cancellation of visas of Park Turk Schools staff and families, Pakistan government ordered them to leave the country in November 2016.
