Islamabad: The Prime Minister’s lawyer, Makhdoom Ali Khan, argued on Article 62-63 in Supreme Court; the court’s whole proceeding revolved around Articles 62-63 which state the issue of Sadiq and Ameen.
The five-member apex bench of the Supreme Court was hearing the Panama Leaks case filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamat-e-Islami (JI) and Awami Muslim League (AML); the bench was presided over by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa.
Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer stated that if the example of former PM Sayed Yousuf Raza Gillani is observed then it become clear that he was disqualified in contempt of the court and disqualification was declared after the recorded evidence.
In Friday proceeding, Makhdoom Ali Khan also said that his client could not be disqualified without judicial declaration. He gave references of numbers of citations that a procedure is available in the constitution to qualify and disqualify a person; he added, judicial deceleration is also required with the disqualification of parliament and it is added in the Article 62(1)(f) of the constitution.
SC remarked that documents and proofs are present and decision is to be taken on the basis of proofs.
Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, while proceeding, asked Makhdoom that how long would it take to finish his arguments on which Khan said that he will complete his argumentation on Article 62-63. He also said that he will also discuss about differences in PM’s speech and Maryam’s dependence issue.
The hearing was adjourned till Tuesday. Chairman PTI after the adjournment talked to media and said that Nawaz Sharif took a big U-turn and has lost all morale grounds; he is trying to hide himself by all possible means but BBC has exposed the truth of Nawaz Sharif on which Khan was greatly criticized by PMLN leaders.
