Barcelona star Luis Suarez scored four goals in Barcelona’s 6-0 win against Sporting Gijon at the Camp Nou. He has put himself in the lead in the quest for the Pichichi award, given to La Liga’s top scorer each season.
Real Madrid top goal scorer Cristiano Ronaldo, who missed Real Madrid’s game due to injury, is now three goals behind the Blaugrana forward.
The competition is strong, as both players are also competing for the La Liga title of top scorers.
Now, it looks as if Barcelona have the advantage. They are back at the top on the table after winning two games back to back with a big margin, and their leading scorer also has the most goals in the league.
It’s obvious that Suarez finds the back of the net with ease. He has become the first player to score four goals in two consecutive games.
Luis Suarez fulfilled a promise and dedicated his goals to Candela, a little girl who is sick that the Uruguayan met earlier this week. Suarez had promised to dedicate a goal to her and to display a special message on a t-shirt.
After scoring his first goal, he ran to the bench to retrieve the shirt. It read: “I support PKU.”
PKU stands for phenylketonuria, and it’s the rare disease that the little girl suffers from. With his goal, he put a smile on her face and the faces of the Barcelona fans.
