PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister’s Information Adviser, Mushtaq Ghani, denied the reports of offering an honorary Pakistani citizenship to Darren Sammy by Pervez Khattak, which was circulating on local media.
The report of denial came just after a Twitter of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak claimed that Sammy was granted Pakistani citizenship.
The denial came shortly after a Twitter account being run in the name of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak claimed that Sammy was granted Pakistani citizenship.
This power resides with the federal government, and the chief minister cannot offer an honourary citizenship
He said that the chief minister cannot do this, and it had been made by a fake account impersonating Khattak on social networking site Twitter.
After the successful performance in Pakistan Super League with Peshawar Zalmi and leading West Indies to their second World T20 title, the West Indian captain, Darren Sammy was briefly thought to have achieved yet another milestone after he was supposedly offered an honorary citizenship of country Pakistan.
Sammy tweeted after it
Khattab sb dera dera Manana ! Pa sar stargo ma qabool de https://t.co/ULWYKEQv2d

He managed to score 140 runs and got four wickets in ten matches for the Peshawar outfit, Sammy also won many hearts, especially from the people of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Unluckily, the Shahid Afridi-led side could only make it to the second play-off final, which they lost to champions Islamabad United.
