KARACHI: On Wednesday, police stated that a young man was shot dead while a bystander continued a bullet wound in an attack on a flower shop in Malir.

They added that killers fired numerous shots at the shop of Mohammed Javed, who had leased the place in Malir 15 meat market a few weeks ago from shop owner Mohammed Yousuf. The dead recognized as Obaid Baloch, a friend of Javed, was present at his friend’s shop.

During inquiry, the police claimed to have found hints of a monetary dispute between the tenant and land owner.

“The shop owner Yousuf had warned Javed to vacate the place within a few days and threatened him of dire consequences if he failed to do so. Today’s firing incident seemed to be linked with the dispute,” Malir City police station SHO Inspector Rao Zakir said.

The fire also left a bystander hurt, who was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he was said to be out of danger.

The body of Obaid was handed over to his family in Dawood Goth, Malir, after medico-legal formalities.

A few days back another incident of such nature occurred when at least four police officials were killed and three injured in two unconnected bouts when unidentified gunmen released fire on them in the city’s Orangi Town.

The police officials were positioned for the safety of polio vaccination officials, Baaghi.tv reported.

The movement to eliminate polio in Pakistan has been oppressed with danger, with radicals aggressively killing and attacking health teams they blamed of being undercover agents.

A polio employee was gunshot and injured in February and in January a suicide bomber killed 15 people outside a polio annihilation centre in Quetta.
